We received a Green Building Award for this retrofit. It was extremely rewarding to turn the old inefficient house into a modern green home, while retaining all the character of its craftsman style. Most of the house was gutted on the inside, and new plumbing and electrical installed. We added a lot of insulation, and then put all the old paneling and moldings back on the inside. New windows, insulation, LED lighting, PV solar panels, and Energy Star Appliances, help to make the home very energy efficient. Low flow fixtures, rainwater catchment, and low water landscaping make the home very water efficient.
